Thursday morning’s run starts at 6:30 am in Franklin. We will meet directly across from Grassland Middle Scholl at River Rest (instead of turing to go to the school, turn into River Rest). The parking lot next to the pool on your left as you turn in is where we will meet. There will be a 5 mile 8 mile and 10 mile running route that goes along Moran Rd and Old Natchez. This is a great scenic route for all levels. Please email me (lizleedle@aol.com) if you plan to join us.Remember to seize the day or it may seize you. Looking forward to seeing all my new partners. If you will be in need of showers, please let me know.

Good afternoon runners and walkers. I wanted to let everyone know that due to the extremely cold temperatures expected in Nashville the next two days, we will not have a group run Thursday or Friday. Please plan on joining us for the group run on SATURDAY. Liz will lead an advanced running group (people that run under a 10 minute mile and have been running for a while) through the trails of the park starting at 7:00am Saturday morning. This run will start from “Deep Wells” off of Hwy 100. If you need instructions on how to get there please contact Liz at lizleedle@aol.com or call her at 364-2275.There will also be a 5 mile running starting at the entrance to Percy Warner Park on Belle Meade Blvd at 9:00 am. We will do the same out and back route that we have done previously. There are shorter routes available if you need it.I want to remind everyone that you do not wake up one day and run a half marathon. It requires training. If you are not joining us (which is fine) please make sure that you are training on your own so that the race will be a fun event for you. Good Luck!Reggie

Hey folks. Wanted to let you know that I’ve spoken with the people at the Delta (the gym on the 4th floor of the Green Hills office) and they’ve agreed to let us use their showers any morning of the week for long runs. You just sign in as Healthways/Liz. And if you want to buy a protein shake, you can set up a charge account, BUT the shake is on you not the company.
And speaking of our week for long runs, I wanted to let you know that we’ll have mile markers every two miles. Happy running!

We had our first GREAT Thursday morning run. Michael is my hero. His first outside long run and he blew us away on the hills. He even decided to go the extra miles with Reggie and me. It just goes to show you that attitude is everything (age helps too). Carla braved her run alone. If you didn’t come, please know that usually there is faster and slower pace setters(even 13 minute mile pace) for those of you who don’t want to endure this alone.
TIP: Never run for too long on the edge of the pavement – you will eventually get an injury. Happy Running/Walking. You are on your way.

Kristine Howard lives in Michigan and works as an Account Manager. Every May her hometown of Grand Rapids hosts a 25K run that she’s always wanted to participate in. Well this year is the year.
She’s started a blog called Running Without Scissors where she talks about her training, obstacles and whatever else she decides to write about. A link to her site is also in the links list.
Be sure to stop by and leave an encouraging comment. You’ll also want to check out her training guide. I would link to it, but I want you to visit her site first.

Hello Marathon and Half-Marathon participants- Welcome to our blog, The Healthy Thirteen. The Thirteen is for 13 miles of course. If you’d like to write a blog post just type it up and send it to Chris Mason. We really want this to be a place where we can engage in conversation through posts and comments and we want it to be a resource for you. When we find something interesting we link to it under “links”. It’s to your left.

The excitement continues to grow around the event in April. We are now up to 140 participants. Keep recruiting, and we may reach 200.
